Frequently asked
What are the best wineries near Lisbon?
For a private day from Lisbon we go to small Arrábida producers like Quinta de Catralvos and José Maria da Fonseca, Setúbal Moscatel houses such as Bacalhôa, and — if you have a full day — talha wineries near Évora in the Alentejo. They're family-run, quiet, and within an easy drive of the city.
How far are the wineries from Lisbon?
Arrábida and Setúbal are 40–50 minutes south of Lisbon by car. Évora and the Alentejo talha producers are about 1h20–1h40 east. Both make a comfortable private day with hotel pickup; the Alentejo is better as a longer day or an overnight.
Is a private wine tour from Lisbon worth it?
Yes if you want to visit small family cellars that don't take walk-ins, taste with the producer rather than a counter assistant, and have a proper long lunch in between. The price difference vs a coach tour buys you access, pace, and a licensed local guide.
Arrábida or Alentejo — which wine region should I choose?
Arrábida is closer, cooler, coastal, and pairs naturally with a beach or Setúbal seafood lunch. Alentejo is warmer, older, and the talha (clay-amphora) wines are unlike anything else in Portugal. If it's your first wine day from Lisbon, start with Arrábida.

    Unforgettable Arrábida wine day

We were picked up at our hotel and our wonderful adventure began. Unforgettable local market, studio of a tile artisan, 3 lovely wineries, beautiful vistas, delicious Portuguese lunch, and a much broader understanding of Portugal's history. Miguel was attentive and incredibly knowledgeable. I would urge you to take this tour.

    Good food and wine

This tour took us to 3 wineries and they all were very impressive. To visit the local market was a wonderful experience too where we bought some really fresh local produce and ate fresh oysters. Lunch was also included in a local restaurant — the charcoal grilled fish and pork were delicious. João was very friendly and full of positive energy.

A fantastic time while in Lisbon

Had a fantastic time our last day in Lisbon. Our tour included a visit to a local market where we saw many species of seafood unheard in the US, a visit to three wineries where we sampled delicious regional wines and a fabulous lunch tasting the local cuisine. Bernardo was very knowledgeable. We would highly recommend this excursion.

    Lovely outing outside of Lisbon

We had a wonderful day with our guide Nuno. He was a genuinely kind, caring man and made sure we were comfortable at all times. Wine tastings were plentiful as were the presentations at the 3 wineries we attended. An excellent lunch was provided. We thank you for a great day.

    Simply the best tour!

This was the best tour on our trip! Our guide, João, was wonderful. The private tour had the right balance of vineyards to visit along with a trip to a small family owned tile facility, and a visit to the fish market. The luncheon provided was exceptional.
